The latest sales chart for Contemporary Jazz CD’s has been released by Billboard, and saxophonist Ski Johnson has knocked trumpeter Chris Botti off the number 1 spot with his CD “New Beginnings”. The Washington, D.C. based artist has been on on the chart for six weeks now, but this is his first time at number 1. “Chris Botti: In Boston” is still going strong at number 2. The CD has now been on the chart for 15 weeks. Bernie Williams and Kenny G make strong moves this week, jumping to 3 and 4 respectively with “Moving Forward” and “Rhythm & Romance” Two CD’s re-enter the top 10 this week. At number 8 is
Spyro Gyra’s “Down the Wire”, while Paul Hardcastle’s “The Collection” jumps back into the number 10 slot.
The remaining spots are filled out by CD’s from Vanessa Williams, Boney James, Richard Elliot, and Marcus Johnson.
